Mission Statement:
The goal of a Calleva GAP semester is to provide experiences that allow participants to make educated decisions about how they want to shape their own future. Calleva allows young adults to grow in their:
SKILL BASE by achieving nationally recognized certifications, a collection of hard skills that can be applied throughout life, as well as the soft skills necessary to work collaboratively in teams.
SELF SUFFICIENCY through opportunities to design their own projects (from outdoor adventures to construction), and apply many different tools and techniques to complete them.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH with an emphasis on expanding diversity & access in the outdoor adventure world through outreach to the larger community. - Level of Independence/Supervision (mouse-over for definition):

Program Learning Outcomes
- Woodworking— Learn the basics and safety of using the common tools for woodworking and detailed construction
- Agriculture & Farming — Learn the basics of agriculture, in the greenhouse & preparing winterized fields for the growing season
- Culinary & Event Planning -- Gain experience in event planning in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Outdoor Adventure — Build skills in rock climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, etc.) as well as trip planning & permitting in national/state wilderness areas
- Community Engagement –– Work with local communities to make outdoor adventure sports accessible to urban and underserved communities
- Project Management -- Plan, source skills & raw materials, map project timeline, and successfully complete a personal capstone project.
- Team Ethic -- Experience the ups and down of communal living, shared responsibilities, and team goal setting.

PCIA Rock Climbing Instructors, ACA Kayaking Instructors, Certified Diesel Mechanic, Certified construction trades (welding, plumbing, electrician), Emergency Medical Technician, CPR, First Aid, ACA Swift Water Rescue
